My work is influenced by the urban environment of Leicester and its mashup of cultural, technological and social histories; by patterns, fabrics and decorative techniques absorbed from my South Asian heritage; and by the hazy, bassy vibes of Leicester’s underground clubs at the turn of the millennium.
I use a collage/cut-and-paste approach across images, sound, objects, materials and geographical locations. I think a lot about actions of sampling, remixing, quoting and transposing across past/present and cultural/subcultural contexts.
My recent work has explored AI-generated image-making, live coding, augmented reality, remote collaboration, problematic archives, electronic sound art, generative art-making and the history of early computer art in Leicester.
Currently I’m taking part in the UK x HK Digital Residency Programme led by FACT, Liverpool; Platform Asia & Sudden Beams; Videotage, Hong Kong; and Near Now/Broadway, Nottingham. The programme focuses on world-building, XR, game engines for art-making, creative uses of AI, non-linear storytelling, gaming and wider screen culture.
