BIO / ABOUT / STATEMENT - - - ---------- WANNA KEEP -- I’m a Leicester born and bred visual artist - the city is ----------------- WANNA KEEP -- problematic archives
I’m mostly about making my work as visually striking as I can. -- I don’t need to say this - anybody can see it instantly
WANNA KEEP -- The strongest influences here are the visual environment of Leicester and its mashup of cultural, technological, urban and social histories; the patterns, fabrics and decorative techniques absorbed from my South Asian heritage; and the hazy, bassy vibes of Leicester’s underground clubs at the turn of the millennium. -------------WANNA KEEP -- Actions of sampling, quoting, remixing and transposing. A collage-informed cut-and-paste treatment across images, sound, objects, materials, geographical locations, institutional spaces and cultural contexts. This is how I question, explore, understand, make sense of, and uncover and share meaning.--------------WANNA KEEP -- My recent work has explored AI-generated image-making, live coding, augmented reality, remote collaboration, electronic sound art, generative art-making and the history of early computer art in Leicester.---------------WANNA KEEP -- Currently I’m exploring creative coding and computational processes using p5.js and I’ve just started a hybrid digital residency with nearnow/fact/platform asia/sudden beams exploring world-building/game engines/non-linear storytelling.
WANNA KEEP - - some of this is still good / phrases etc so pick those out -- Working across image-making, digital processes, constructional sewing, performance-for-video and collage-as-remix, Khush explores identity, cultural heritage, personal history and the urban environment through the lenses of late 90s underground club culture and Leicester’s many cultural, technological, urban and social histories. -- Recent projects have explored AI-generated image-making, live coding, augmented reality, remote collaboration, problematic archives, electronic sound art and generative/computational processes. -- Khush has exhibited in the UK, USA and India, and her work is held in the public collection of The City of Leicester Museums Trust. She was nominated and shortlisted for acquisition by the Government Art Collection's Art X-UK 2022-2023 programme.
What about obviously lazy/sketchy titles , bullet points etc instead of faffing with a fancy/impressively worded bio - - - : what i’m influenced by visually ; the ways of making i use : the bits that sound good (e.g. museum/dmu buying my work, nominated for government art collection etc) ; what i’m doing/thinking about at the moment (e.g. bookclub/p5.js, nearnow residency) : touch on the workshops stuff + digital arts award — Moritz reworded the bio off website for using on sudden beams - so just tell clients they can do the same but run it by me first before posting obvs
