I’m a Leicester born and bred visual artist.
My work is shaped by the urban environment of Leicester and its mashup of cultural, technological and social histories; by patterns and decorative techniques absorbed from my South Asian heritage; and by the hazy, bassy feels of Leicester’s underground clubs at the turn of the millennium.
I use a cut+paste/collage approach ~ sampling, remixing, quoting and transposing ~ across images, processes and locations; cultural/social contexts; and past/present.
My recent work has explored AI-generated image-making; live coding; augmented reality; problematic archives; collaborative sound art; generative/rule-based art-making; and the history of early computer art in Leicester.
Currently I’m taking part in the UK x HK Digital Residency Programme led by FACT, Liverpool; Platform Asia & Sudden Beams; Videotage, Hong Kong; and NearNow/Broadway, Nottingham. The programme explores world-building; XR; game engines for art-making; creative uses of AI; non-linear storytelling; and wider screen culture.
