I’m a Leicester born and bred visual artist.
My work is shaped by the urban+visual environment of Leicester and its mashup of cultural, technological and social histories; by pattern, ornament and decoration absorbed through my south asian heritage; and by the hazy, bassy echoes of Leicester’s underground clubs at the turn of the millennium.
I use cut+paste actions of sampling, remixing, quoting and transposing to layer images, processes and histories across cultural/social contexts and IRL/imagined locations.
My recent work has explored AI tools for image-making; augmented reality; live coding; collaborative sound art; generative/rule-based art-making; and the history of early computer art in Leicester.
Currently I’m taking part in the UK x HK Digital Residency Programme led by FACT, Liverpool; Platform Asia & Sudden Beams; Videotage, Hong Kong; and NearNow/Broadway, Nottingham. The programme explores new technologies, game engines, world-building, non-linear storytelling and expanded screen culture.
